GCC offers new scholarships to Churchville students

Genesee Community College is seeking at least two eligible students from the Churchville area to apply for and receive the college's new Citizenship Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is geared toward students who plan to attend Genesee and live in the college's new student residence. The Citizenship Scholarship is a competitive award given to students who have exhibited involvement and leadership in school, community, or church activities during their high school years.

The Genesee Community College Foundation established the new scholarship program this spring to recognize outstanding student leaders in Western and Central New York communities that historically have sent students to Genesee. Housing charges at the residence are $2,995 per year, which includes free local telephone service. The $1,000 Citizenship Scholarship brings housing costs to $1,995.

Students may apply for Citizenship Scholarships by contacting their high school guidance departments or by contacting Genesee at (716) 345-6800.
