Newly-elected member of the Hilton School District Board of Education, Dr. James J. Giordano, resigned from the board at its July 3 meeting as he accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools in the Hammondsport Central School District. The board decided to fill the remainder of this year's term through an appointment process. The remaining two years of the three-year term will be filled at the May 21, 2002 election.

Interested persons who are residents of the Hilton School District continuously for at least one year; registered voters; U.S. citizens; and not a current Hilton School District employee are eligible to apply. The board has set an August 1 deadline for applications. Interviews will follow on August 8 and the appointment is expected by September. Letters of intent and resumes should be sent to Board President David Fisher, Hilton Central School District, 225 West Avenue, Hilton 14468. The next Hilton Board of Education meeting is scheduled for August 7 at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the West Avenue Building. The topic for the meeting is the presentation of the final recommendation by the district's Long Range Planning Committee concerning a proposed Capital Project.
