Bailey Road resident Henrietta Decker turned 100 years of age on July 12 and was feted at celebrations at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Frewsburg, New York and the First Bible Baptist Church on North Greece Road.

A native of Warren County, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Decker moved to Parma five years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law Doris and Frank Hutchison. She has survived two husbands, Clyde Blackmer whom she married in 1931, and Delbert Decker whom she married in 1966. She also survived her only son, Clyde Blackmer.

Mrs. Decker was raised on farm that is now the Kinzua Dam, in Northern Pennsylvania. During her work life, she was employed by a clothing manufacturer, furniture factory and as a crossing guard.

Mrs. Decker has 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, whom she enjoys immensely, said her daughter, Doris Hutchison. She also enjoys flowers and belongs to Saints Alive, a senior citizen's group that meets once a month.

Mrs. Decker began writing her autobiography in the early 1990s and at her 95th birthday celebration in 1996 she gave everyone in the family a copy. Her granddaughter, Denise Hutchison, has helped her keep the autobiography up-to-date, and Mrs. Decker planned to hand-out the most recent chapters at last week's celebrations.

"Her health is very good," said Doris Hutchison. "She needs care, but she's up and around everyday. She remembers things that I don't remember.
