What's new at the Orleans County Fair?
What's new at the Orleans County Fair?

Two exciting new acts have been recruited to perform at the 2001 Orleans County Fair and Dr. Rock's Dinosaur Adventure will return with a brand new show.

New entertainment will include Pit Row Racing Entertainment (1/10 scale NASCAR style race cars that speed through a 24 x 16 foot speedway).

Upgrades have been made to the outside restrooms, a diaper changing station has been added to grounds, and efforts have been made to beautify all areas with plants and flowers. Nightly dinners include a baby back ribs dinner, a fish fry and a steak roast.

The fee for parking has increased to $4. This is the first increase in several years. Senior Citizens (when a senior is the driver of a car) will receive a discounted parking rate of $3. As in the past, a percentage of the parking fee goes to support local FFA groups. There continues to be no admission fee to the Fair and all entertainment taking place on the pavilion and center stages is free.

While each year brings new acts and hopefully, upgrades and enhancements to the Fairgrounds, the Orleans County 4-H Fair continues to:
•provide opportunities for youth to share with others the knowledge and skills they have acquired through year-round participation in 4-H.
•help youth develop self-confidence and poise in meeting and relating to an audience.
•increase public understanding of 4-H and Cooperative Extension - its objectives, philosophy and standards.
•provide an opportunity for development of a feeling of community togetherness among the people of Orleans County.

The 2001 Fair Board Officers include Eugene L. Smith of Barre, chair; Michele Batt of Albion, vice-chair; Marie Snyder of Albion, secretary; Jane Klatt of Gaines, treasurer; Tammy Fisher, assistant treasurer; Walter Batt of Albion, fair manager; Clarence Preston of Barre, assistant fair manager.

The Orleans County Fair runs from July 23 through July 28 at the fairgrounds on Route 31 west of Albion.
