Work scheduled to begin on
Spencerport School District's capital project

Work is scheduled to begin as early as July 23 on the Spencerport School District's capital project. Bids for the first phase of the project, which includes asbestos abatement and new roofing at the high school and middle school, opened July 11.

The school board will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Monday, July 16, when members expect to approve contracts for the work. The high school and middle school will remain open during the work. However, parts of the building will be secured for safety. The work in this phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the time school opens in September.

This work is part of the $46.9 million school building and renovation project approved by voters in March 2000. The complete project includes the building of a new elementary school and renovations and/or additions at all five existing schools in the district. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2002.
