The following local students were named to the dean's list of St. Bonaventure University for the spring 2001 semester: Holly Volkmuth of Spencerport, Deborah Kruger of Kendall, Megan Ryan of Rochester, Katherine Petit of Spencerport, Shannon Moreland of Spencerport, Kylie Vaughn of Spencerport, and Lindsay Scheg of Hilton.


Kevin Flanagan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Flanagan of Spencerport, has graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science degree in computer science.


Jodi Haas, of Spencerport, has been appointed director of admissions for the Wesley Community. Haas worked as a nurse manager at Wesley previously, and most recently was at Wedgewood Nursing Home in Spencerport. As Wesley's director of admissions, Haas is responsible for meeting with prospective residents and coordinating all aspects of the admissions process.


Jeanie Havens, of Churchville, has been named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A fourth-year student in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, Havens is studying Illustration. She is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Havens and is a 1997 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.


Jeannine Van Aernum, of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list at Daemen College for the spring 2001 semester.


Emily Stewart recently graduated from Loyola College of Maryland where she majored in political science and was elected to the honor society Pi Sigma Alpha. She will be spending the next year in Kyushu, Japan teaching at the Universe Academy.

Stewart is a 1997 graduate of Spencerport High School and daughter of Robert and Judith Stewart of Ridge Meadows Drive.


Kristina LaCelle-Peterson of North Chili, received the doctor of philosophy degree from Caspersen School of Graduate Studies at Drew University, Madison, New Jersey at commencement ceremonies in May 2001.


Matthew J. Read has decided to attend Clarkson University in the fall of 2001, and as a freshman at Clarkson plans to major in chemical engineering. He is the son of Jim and Alice Read of Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton, and is home schooled.


Benjamin Adriance, of Spencerport, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the United Food and Commercial Workers District Union Local One. Adriance works for Tops Markets and attends SUNY Fredonia.


Robyn Mance, of Spencerport, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the United Food and Commercial Workers District Union Local One. Mance works for Tops Markets and will attend MCC.


Mary Adner, of Hamlin, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the United Food and Commercial Workers District Union Local One. Adner works at Tops in Hamlin and will attend MCC.


Jason Begy, of Hilton, was among the outstanding high school students recognized last month by SUNY Brockport President Paul Yu. He congratulated the 3-1-3 Program students for having achieved a college grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale, equivalent to a B+ or better).


Three Kendall High School students were among the outstanding high school students recognized last month by SUNY Brockport President Paul Yu. He congratulated the 3-1-3 Program students for having achieved a college grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale, equivalent to a B+ or better). The freshmen honored from Kendall High School were: Ryan Grimm, Heather Miller and Kevin Pritchard.


Twenty-six Brockport High School students were among the outstanding high school students recognized last month by SUNY Brockport President Paul Yu. The freshmen honored from Brockport High School were: Brian Abrams, Ashley Anker, Stephanie Ayres, Richard Campbell, Jennifer Cavalloro, Sheila Devine, Kelly Duff, Joshua Dupre, Zachary Edwards, Nathaniel Emmerson, Audrey Erbland, Jane Genthner, Jessica Haas, Benjamin Hastings, Daniel Kepler, Michael Kincaid, Dawn McCrudden, Richard Merlau, Brian Mosher, Therese Parker, John Perry, Peter Ryan, Matthew Siciliano, Alexander Townsend, Amy Vandenberg, and Brian Wojtowicz.


Hillary Bruton, a senior majoring in history at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for academic achievement for the spring 2001 semester. Bruton, a graduate of Universal High School in Iowa City, Iowa, is a resident of Spencerport.


Adrienne M. Smith, of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's honor list for outstanding academic achievement for the spring 2001 term at Gettysburg College.


Kasandra Cliff, of Hamlin, will attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF/MED), taking place in Washington, DC from July 22 to July 31. NYLF/MED is a career development program for high school students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and an interest in medicine. Cliff will join 350 other high school students from around the country.

Cliff will be a senior at Kendall High School in the fall. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Senior High Chorus, AFS group, class secretary, a member of the Studio K Drama club, and a member of the varsity soccer and softball teams at school. She is the daughter of Dale and Renee Cliff of Hamlin.

Army National Guard Pvt. Jamie M. Krolak has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During the training, the soldier received instruction and practice in drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is the son of Ronald and Diane Krolak of Rochester and a 1998 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


Kimberly A. Prasker has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year. Prasker will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri, for basic training. She is the daughter of Sharon M. Prasker of Hilton and Allen S. Prasker of Rochester.


Army Pfc. Mark S. Altobelli has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma. During the training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions. He is the son of Lisa Altobelli and a 1999 graduate of Gates Chili High School.
