G.E., Black and Decker and 3M have announced the reaching of an agreement to perform their respective environmental investigation activities together so as to minimize the impact of investigative procedures on the surrounding neighborhoods. Although most details of the agreement are confidential, according to 3M Regional Manager of Public Affairs Bill Nelson, it involves the sampling of Brockport Creek Tributary 3.

Nelson said the work may begin as soon as the DEC approves the plan and homeowners give permission for testing.

"We are very encouraged by this announcement,"said Mayor Josephine Matela. "It is our hope that companies will recognize their accountability and responsibility and do the right thing."
