SUNY Brockport photographer wins national awards

Jim Dusen, manager of photographic services at SUNY Brockport, has received multiple awards at the 40th Annual Technical Symposium of the University Photographers' Association of America (UPAA), held at the Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, and at Bryce Canyon National Park, June 11-16. Dusen received the following recognition, his 16th consecutive award-winning year: he was re-elected president of UPAA, for a sixth consecutive one-year term; in the Print Competition's Campus Environment category, Dusen's photograph of Hartwell Hall received first place; in the Publications Competition, he received third place for best use of photography for his work in the college's Graduate Viewbook; and in the Poster Category, he was awarded third place for his photograph used in a SUNY Brockport Danscore poster.

As UPAA president, Dusen serves 250 members across the country. He has been involved with the organization for 17 years, and has previously served as a member of the board of directors and vice president. Founded in 1961, UPAA is an international organization of college and university photographers concerned with the application and practice of photography as it relates to higher education. It is committed to photographic excellence through continuing education.
