Six members of the Salmon Creek Country Club Women's Tennis League in Spencerport returned home medal winners at the 2001 Empire State Senior Games. The games were held June 14-17 at LeMoyne College and Syracuse University.

Millie Gianfagna of Brockport and Kay Alexander of Churchville won the gold medal in the 75-79 year-old doubles bracket. Mary Anne Braunbach of Albion won the silver medal in the 60-64 singles division. Melba LoMonaco of Brockport and Mary Ann Lindner of Spencerport won the silver medal in the 50-54 doubles bracket. Virginia Catalino of Spencerport won the bronze medal in the 65-69 women's singles.

Gianfagna, 81 years old, played mixed doubles for the first time with her son, Alfred, of Watertown. Alfred just turned 50 and qualified for the senior games. Mother and son won the bronze medal even though they had to play down to the 50-54 division.

Other Salmon Creek Tennis League women who competed in the tennis matches held at Syracuse University included Gloria Miller of Greece and Becky Elwell of Gates.

Also attending the games was Sterling Bush of Spencerport. Being the youngest member of the Salmon Creek tennis league, she was ineligible to compete in the Senior Games, so she came along as team mascot and cheerleader.
