Sweden rezoning request withdrawn

A July 24 public hearing on a request for rezoning of land on the south side of Brockport Spencerport Road in Sweden was canceled because the applicant withdrew the request. David Paul had asked the town board to rezone some of his property from residential to business and light industrial. Several neighboring residents had protested the change and the town board had seemed unlikely to grant the request.

In other business from the July 24 town board meeting: The resignations for the purpose of retirement of highway employee Robert Hafner and court clerk Lucy Nesbitt were accepted with regret.

•The board ordered a public hearing to be held on August 28 at 7:15 p.m. regarding the extension of the Sweden consolidated water district. The extension will travel 1,040 feet southward on Route 19 from White Road. Two homeowners are footing the bill for the engineering and materials; the Town of Sweden will do the installation of the line.

At the urging of Talamora Trail residents, the town will request a lowered speed limit on the section of Brockport-Spencerport Road between Transit Way to the Sweden/Ogden town line. Residents would like the speed limit lowered to 45 mph.
