Stephanie Ball has graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rochester with a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Ball, a resident of Spencerport, is a graduate of Greece Olympia High School in Rochester.


Pamela Brashich has graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Brashich, a resident of Spencerport, is a graduate of Spencerport High School in Spencerport.


The Junior Class of Georgetown University, consisting of almost 1,500 students, elected Martin LaFalce class representative to the Georgetown Student Council. Out of eight candidates, LaFalce was the top vote-getter. He was also the top vote-getter in his sophomore year, when he led a field of 13 candidates.

LaFalce will also serve as a Resident Assistant at Georgetown, counseling freshmen students.

LaFalce is pursuing a double major at Georgetown, Government and Theology. He is 20 years old, and is the son of Congressman John and Patricia LaFalce (29th District).


Allison E. Roether of Churchville is the recipient of the 2001 Charles Van Ardsdale Scholarship granted by the Jones School of Business at SUNY Geneseo. The $1,000 award is given to an incoming freshman based on academic excellence and potential for success in business.

Roether is a graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and will be attending SUNY Geneseo this fall, majoring in business administration with a minor in Spanish.


Carolyn Schubel, of Brockport, was named Lakeside Health System's Employee of the Month for August.

Schubel, who works in the Lakeside Pharmacy, was cited for acting as a communication bridge between the pharmacy and the medical/surgical staff.

Schubel has been employed by the health system for more than 15 years. As part of her recognition she received gift certificates to the Twig Gift Shop and the Family Wellness Center. She will also have use of the Employee of the Month parking spot and received a gift on behalf of the health system from Hospital CEO Robert W. Harris.


Betsy Rosser (1972-1974) was inducted into the Hall of Heritage of the SUNY Brockport Alumni Association. This is the Association's most prestigious award, designed to honor those who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the Alumni Association, the college or their community.

She received the award at a luncheon held on Saturday, July 14, at the college.

Rosser served as president of the Alumni Association from 1983-1985 and was instrumental in saving the Alumni House from demolition. Rosser currently serves on the Alumni House Committee. She has been assistant director of the Office of Residential Life/Learning Communities at SUNY Brockport for 22 years.


1999 Brockport High School graduate Mark Mead was awarded the 2001 John Chamberlain Award for outstanding print journalist, presented July 27 by the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University. The award was given for his performance this summer at the Institute for Political Journalism at Georgetown and his work at the Cybercast News Service, Alexandria, Virginia

Mead will be a junior this fall at Clemson University, where he majors in economics and minors in international relations. He is the son of David and Joanne Mead of Clarkson.


Zachary Blodgett has been named a Penn Leader Scholar by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. As a Penn Scholar, Zach has been awarded a full tuition scholarship for each of his four years at the Ivy League University. He will run cross country and track for the Division I Quakers.

A 2001 graduate of Hilton Central High School, Blodgett is the son of David and Ruth Blodgett of Parma Center Road in Hilton.


Sarah Blodgett Bermeo has been awarded her master's degree in public affairs by Princeton University. The 1993 valedictorian of Hilton Central School and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Rochester, Bermeo has accepted a position on the Princeton faculty as an instructor of micro- and macro-economics in the graduate program.

She is married to Otto Bermeo, a 1993 graduate of SUNY Brockport and a senior accountant with Berlitz Inc., of Princeton. She is the daughter of David and Ruth Blodgett of Hilton.


Bethany Blodgett has been accepted into the study abroad program offered by the University of Rochester.

A dean's list scholar, she is double majoring in psychology and American Sign Language. She will spend the fall semester studying at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia.

She is a 1999 graduate of Hilton Central School. She is the daughter of David and Ruth Blodgett of Parma Center Road in Hilton.


Erin M. Kimmerly of Hilton, has been named to the dean's honor list for the spring semester at Canisius College.

She is the daughter of Keith and Marianne Kimmerly and a 2000 graduate of Hilton High School.


Loraleigh Roller, 1999 graduate of Hilton High School, has been promoted to Second Class Cadet at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

This past year she has earned Military and Physical Fitness Stars and Ribbons for Rifle and Pistol Marksmanship and Special Duty in Op-Sail 2000. As an upperclassman she has been assigned duties as XO Commander of her Platoon for the incoming class of 2005 cadets.

She also has attended flight school in Alabama and has learned to fly F-10 jets and J-Hawk Rescue Helicopters.

She is the daughter of Ann and Brian Roller of Hilton.


Navy Chief Petty Officer Randall D. Bagoly, son of Nancy M. and Alexander Bagoly of Deerborne Lane, Spencerport, graduated from the Department of Defense Public Affairs Officer Course at Fort Meade, Maryland.

During the 10-week course, Bagoly joined students from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and DoD civilian personnel to receive specialized training in the public affairs career field.

Bagoly is a 1983 graduate of Spencerport High School and joined the Navy in July 1990.
