Coordinated Care, Community Concern, The NYS Division of Veteran's Affairs and Southtown's Rural Preservation present the 3rd Annual Working with Rural Elderly Conference for human service agencies providing services to the elderly in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Genesee, Erie, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

The Conference will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2001 at Hilbert College, 5200 South Park Avenue, Hamburg from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. All human service agencies are welcome to attend but seating is limited; early registration is advised.

Dr. Thomas Rosenthal, Chair, Department of Family Medicine at University of Buffalo, will deliver the keynote address. He will speak on "Healthcare for the rural elderly." A legislative panel is planned with NYS Senator George Maziarz and Senator Pat McGee discussing issues of the rural elderly from a state prospective.

Workshops will be offered on topics such as Veteran's issues, legal issues, depression, caring for the caregiver, homecare options, Medicare choices, housing issues, adaptive technologies and mobilizing volunteers in rural areas.
