Public Star Party features the Moon

Members of the local astronomy club invite people of all ages to Northampton Park to view the Moon and deep sky objects through the members' telescopes. See galaxies, star clusters, and gaseous nebulae. The Moon will be in a prime time for viewing early in the evening; other deep sky objects will be better late in the event.

Knowledgeable people will be on hand to answer questions. No equipment is needed, but people who want to learn how to better use their own telescopes and binoculars are welcome to bring them along. Held only if skies are clear.

The Star Party is scheduled for Friday, August 24 from 9 to 11 p.m. at Northampton Park (near the ski lodge), Hubbell Road off Route 31, west of the intersection of Routes 259 and 31.
