Lakeside's Little Gallery continues to grow

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Volunteer Art Coordinator Hiroko Battey, Lakeside's "Little" Art Gallery continues to flourish.

For more than a year, visitors and patients to Lakeside Health System have been greeted by an ever-changing array of paintings that hang on the walls between the health system's Laboratory/X-Ray departments and Central Registration. The paintings are works rendered by local artists and range from watercolors to oil and acrylics.

Florals, landscape, still lifes and photo-realism are always popular styles with the general public.

"We can always use more paintings and we like featuring the works of local artists," she said.

In order for an artist to have the opportunity to hang their work in the "Little Gallery" they must agree to donate a piece of artwork to Lakeside's Annual Gala Dinner. Battey said the need for original, high quality artwork is always there.

The art section at the auction of the Annual Gala Dinner has grown from featuring the works of only two artists to having more than 43 original paintings at last year's event.
