Hilton Apple Fest sponsors
two new contests and a children's display

Apple Fest 2001 is sponsoring three new creative events. They are: Fall Decoration Contest (residents), Fall Decoration Contest (businesses), and Fall Decoration Children's Display.

Those wishing to enter the Fall Decoration Contest for residents and the Fall Decoration Contest for businesses must register by September 25. Registrations forms will be available through the Suburban News (printed issue of August 27), Apple Fest Office (call 392-0773) and leave name and address), the Village Office at 59 Henry Street, and from the web site www.hiltonapplefest.org.

These contests will be judged by professional judges and are limited to Town of Parma residents and businesses. The entrants will be judged on Originality, Use of Color, Best Use of Materials, and Overall Effect. A picture will be taken at the time of judging to be displayed in the Ingham Room.

The "Fall Decoration Contest for Residents" asks residents of the Town of Parma to decorate their porch or front of their house for the season. Many people travel to the village for the Apple Fest and this is a great way to spruce up for this event. The entrants may decorate any way they want, using a fall theme. The best part of this contest is that the decoration will be on the homeowner's own property and won't have to be moved when the contest is over and will be able to be enjoyed for the whole season. Photos will be taken at the time of judging and on display in the Ingham Room during the Apple Fest. Everyone is invited to place their "Popular Vote." First prize winner will receive $75. Second prize $50. Third prize $25. Honorable Mention winner will receive $10. The winner of the Popular Vote will be awarded a First Place Ribbon.

The second contest is the "Fall Decoration Contest for Businesses" which is asking businesses of the Town of Parma to decorate the front of their business for fall. A picture will be taken at the time of judging and will be displayed, along with the name and address of the business, in the Ingham Room. The winners will be awarded a ribbon to display in their business and recognition in the news releases after the Apple Fest.

The Fall Decoration Children's Display is for children ages 12 and under who are encouraged to make a fall decoration to be displayed in the Ingham Room. All entrants will receive a token gift as a thank you. Each display should not exceed one foot wide by one foot long but may be as tall as desired. Registration forms are available through the Hilton Central School System Office. Registration deadline is September 20.
