fall program brochure now available

Hilton-Parma Recreation's Fall 2001 Program Brochure is now available at locations within the Village of Hilton and the Town of Parma. The brochure will also be distributed through the Hilton School District beginning September 6.

This season's programs will include many classes, sports, clubs and events that the community has enjoyed for several years. All of your family favorites will be offered again this year, as well as some new and exciting programs.

Hilton-Parma Recreation has several great programs for a youngster's first class. The free open play gym called Kid's Time will again run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays starting September 17 for children one-and-one-half through four years with parental supervision. Little Bear Big Bear and Child's Play are some family favorites for a child's initial recreation experience. A new instructor this year, Debra Florio, will give parents and children many activities that are not only fun at the recreation center but will also occupy a rainy afternoon at home. Tiny Tot Swim is also a great way to introduce your toddler to the water.

Also featured this fall is the Annual Halloween Celebration. This year the event will take place on Saturday, October 20. This is a day full of "Spooktacular" surprises for preschool and elementary age children and their parents.

There will be many youth sports offered this season such as Listen and Learn Basketball, Baton Twirling for ages 5 to adult, Fall Star Baseball Instructional Camp, Flag Football, Swimming and Ice Skating Lessons and Sr. High Ski Club. Adults may take part in several high-energy activities like Co-ed Open Volleyball, Women's Volleyball League, SCUBA Diving, Lap Swimming, and Over 30 Men's Basketball.

For a creative child, try Nothing Up My Sleeve or Magic II Learn magic classes or perhaps Introduction to Rubber Stamping. These classes are offered to develop skills and facilitate socialization in school age youths.

The annual event of the year for runners in the Hilton area is the Apple Derby/Merkel 5-Mile Run. Come try to break the course record and win $250 from the Hilton Big M. The race is September 29 at 8:45 a.m. at the cost of $10 with pre-registration or $15 at the race.

All of these programs and many more, such as the Hilton Senior Center Activities, are featured in the Fall 2001 Recreation Program Brochure. It is now available at the Village Community Center, Parma Town Hall, Parma Public Library and in the Hilton schools starting September 6. Call Hilton-Parma Recreation between 8-4 weekdays at 392-9030 with questions.
