Proceeds to be shared with Comprehensive Breast Cancer Clinic

The Spencerport Rangers Varsity/JV Girls Soccer teams will hold their Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, October 8 at the Caledonia Country Club. The tournament is open to the public and will benefit the many programs at the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Practice at the University of Rochester Cancer Clinic. Serving patients with breast cancer, the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Practice offers medical care in a compassionate environment.

Breast cancer can be a tremendous challenge. Those working at the practice hope that with individualized treatment, planning, education and innovative research, they can help patients through the most difficult times and offer the best chances for survival and enhanced quality of life. The center operates on donated funds, volunteers and the support of the community. The Rangers team believes that supporting this organization is an opportunity to show team spirit in a way that benefits the women in their community and their families who have had to deal with the many challenges facing those afflicted with breast cancer.

The entry fee of $75 includes an 18 hole scramble golf tournament, golf cart, lunch at the turn, and a prime rib dinner afterwards. Door prizes will be given and there will also be prizes raffled.

Business sponsorships are needed. Business sponsors will receive a 12 x 24 inch sign to be placed on one of the holes on the golf course and will be mentioned in the program. Businesses are also encouraged to donate prizes that can be raffled. Businesses can sponsor a hole for $150 or share sponsorship of a hole for $75.

For those who are not golfers, but would still like to support the team and the Breast Cancer Practice, a memory certificate is available for purchase. A memory certificate is an 8 x 10 inch laminated certificate in memory of a loved one or a survivor of cancer. The Rangers will display these certificates at a Memory Walk at the tournament and also at one of their home games this season. Memory certificates cost $10.

The MC for this event will be Traci Buch from WOKR-TV Channel 13. For more information, contact Debbie Moyer at 352-6543 or a member of the Rangers soccer team. Reservations are needed by September 28.
