Jeffrie B. Leahy has been elected vice president and chief operating officer of Rochester Area Community Foundation. Previously, she headed finance and administration. Initially a volunteer and part-time employee in the early 1980s, she joined the staff full-time in 1990 and has assisted in its financial operations ever since - and helped assets grow from $3 million to $144 million.


Dr. Debra Silkes, a general surgeon boarded by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, is opening an office in Brockport at 156 West Avenue, Suite 3206. Dr. Silkes is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has an interest in breast, gallbladder and colon surgery. She attended medical school at the University of Miami School of Medicine and trained in New York City at St. Luke's hospital.


Megan K. Suflita, daughter of George Suflita of Kendall, has received an RIT Presidential Scholarship. She is majoring in electrical engineering in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering and is a 2001 Kendall Jr./Sr. High School graduate.


SUNY Brockport goalie Mary Maslanka of Churchville-Chili is the SUNYAC Soccer Player of the Week for September 9. Maslanka stopped 16 shots as Brockport improved its record to 2-1 with a 2-0 shutout of nationally seventh-ranked Nazareth College September 7. She has recorded 24 saves and a 0.97 goals against average in three games this season.


Morgan DeLapa, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeLapa of Hilton, and a seventh grader at Hilton's Merton Williams School, participated in a two-week summer internship at the prestigious North Carolina Ballet Theater in Charlotte this summer. One of 18 students in the workshops, she received instruction in pointe, ballet, jazz, modern and character classes from professional dancers from the Atlanta Ballet and the New York City Ballet. Culminating performances were presented at the Ballet Theatre. DeLapa is a student in the Ballet Theatre, Greece.

EM2 (SW/AW) Aaron M. Anderson recently completed a six-month tour of duty aboard the USS Nassau in the Mediterranean. While overseas, Anderson served in the position of Flight Deck Electrician. He was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal, upon his return to the United States, for his extraordinary accomplishments as Flight Deck Electrician. Anderson also received his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) qualification and his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) qualification while upon this tour of duty. He was promoted to Electricians Mate Second Class and awarded a medal for good conduct.

Anderson is the son of Mark and Cindy Anderson of Bergen. He is a 1998 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School and is currently working on completing a degree in Electrical Engineering at Old Dominion University in Norfolk while continuing to serve his country in the Navy.


Janet Wetzel and Art Lettie are the recipients of the "Top Lister of the Month Award," for the month of July at Nothnagle Ogden/Chili office. They each added six listings during the month of July.

Wetzel has received many awards in the past, including Sales Master Award 2000 from the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors, Zenith Award 2000 from Women's Council of Realtors, Nothnagle's Top 25 1998, Ogden/Chili's Top 10. She has been associated with Nothnagle for 20 years.

Lettie is an Associate Broker, and has been with Nothnagle Realtors for 11 years. He has E-Pro certification, and specializes in residential, light commercial property, and western Monroe County properties.
