A portion of Route 441 from the intersection of East Avenue in Brighton to the Wayne County border shall be known as the Korean War Memorial Highway in honor of the men and women who fought in that war.

"Recognizing and remembering the important sacrifices of our Korean War Veterans is an important part of preserving our nation's history," said State Senator Jim Alesi. "In designating this portion of Route 441 as the Korean War Memorial Highway, I hope to further commemorate the bravery and valor with which our soldiers fought for the preservation of democracy."

The renaming of this portion of highway comes as a result of legislation which Alesi originally introduced in the year 2000. Having successfully pushed this bill through both houses of the legislature, the bill was delivered to and signed by the Governor.
