Salute to America at Frontier Field

The Boy Scouts of America will be holding a rally for patriotism on Sunday, September 23 at Frontier Field, in conjunction with Monroe County, local fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and other affiliated organizations.

Gates will open to the general public at 2 p.m., the actual program will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service led by the Rochester City Fire Department honoring those firefighters and rescue workers who perished in New York City. Rochester Mayor Bill Johnson will then make a few brief remarks to the audience.

This will be followed by a ceremonial raising of the American Flag back to the full staff position and should conclude by approximately 3 p.m. Parking will be available free of charge in the adjacent Kodak lots.

All Boy and Girl scouting units are invited to participate in full uniform with flags in a parade on the field. Any units interested in participating should arrive in full uniform no later than 2 p.m. to line up.

Local firefighters, emergency medical workers, and law enforcement officials are also invited to attend in uniform to honor those citizens who bravely work every day to save lives.

Performers will be in attendance to lead the public in a Salute to America through songs and, in closing, the Pledge of Allegiance.
