Sleepwear being collected for women's shelters

During October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley Alumnae Association, in partnership with HSBC, is having a P.J. Round Up to collect sleepwear for area battered women shelters.

"We coordinate the P.J. Round Up to provide an opportunity for women to help women. All women - former and current Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts - can do a good deed again," said Charlene Halbrook, the 2001 P.J. Round Up Chair.

Drop off pajamas at the nearest HSBC branch during the week of October 9-13. All Monroe, Genesee, Orleans and Livingston county HSBC locations will serve as drop-off sites for the sleepwear. Girl Scouts will send a receipt for tax purposes if names and addresses are attached.

The Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley will distribute sleepwear to shelters in Monroe, Livingston, Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties, including Chances & Changes, Inc., The Catholic Family Center's Women's Place, Bethany House, Wilson Commencement Park and the Sojourner House.
