Churchville-Chili homecoming reaches out

Homecoming at Churchville-Chili High School this year will have a theme of "Around the World." The long homecoming weekend will begin with a bonfire on Thursday, October 4, and continue through a parade on Saturday, October 6. The hope of organizers is it will bring students, alumni and the community together.

The community parade will feature all sports teams (including local Pop Warner football and cheerleading), elementary schools, fire departments and police agencies. The parade will line up at the senior high school mid-day Saturday and begin moving around 12:45 p.m., according to Jennifer Pacatte, co-advisor to C-C's student executive council.

"There will be the class floats and we're hoping students from the elementary schools will join us, decorate their bikes or whatever," Pacatte said.

The parade will move from the high school down Buffalo Road to Fairbanks Road and then into the middle school campus. There will be judges along the route and awards for spirit. The parade will be followed by a varsity football game at 2 p.m. against Brockport.

After the football game, there will be the Powder Puff classic, with junior and senior girls playing a touch football game.

Special homecoming activities will begin Thursday with a softball game played by boys from different classes at 4 p.m. in front of the high school. A pizza party, sponsored by Churchville-Chili Sports Booster Club, will then precede the homecoming bonfire, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. in front of the high school. Students with pre-purchased tickets will move inside for a dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

Homecoming officially begins with athletic contests on Monday, October 1. Students, alumni and community members are encouraged to attend home and away games of all sports in support of athletes. Daily sports schedules can be accessed at 293-1800 ext. 5817. There is a full schedule of athletic events all week.
