Churchville F.D. Open House to feature Child I.D. kits

The Churchville Fire Department will be holding their annual Open House on Sunday, October 14, from noon until 4 p.m. at 25 East Buffalo Street, Churchville. Child Identification Kits with photos and fingerprinting are a new feature this year. These kits will aid emergency personnel in finding lost or abucted children.

This year's open house will also include an auto accident demonstration at 12:30 p.m. using the "jaws of life" and a Water Rescue Team demo at 2 p.m. Displays will include kitchen fires, thermal imaging camera use, woodstove and chimney fire safety, house numbering, smoke detector raffles, blood pressure checks, EMS equipment, kid's smoke house and children's flame house, where children could put out a pretend fire with a fire hose. There will also be a memorial display honoring the fallen firefighters and emergency personnel from the World Trade Center tragedy.

Residents are encouraged to stop by to meet members and officers and for refreshments.

The Village of Churchville has a scheduled power outage from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, but fire department officials say they will have power.
