Patty Uttaro, Director of the Ogden Farmers' Library, is collecting photos, old and new, which depict events and scenery located in Ogden and Spencerport. These photos will be used for two projects currently underway in the area. One project is the publication of a book called Images of Ogden and Spencerport that is being written by the Ogden Historical Committee. This group needs pictures of people, places and things from the 1940s through to the present time. Pictures that show the development of the town and villages are especially needed.

The second project for which photos are being collected is the development of a Spencerport community website. The Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce is spearheading the development of this site, which will be located on the Internet at www.spencerportchamber.org. The Chamber intends this website to become the online information portal for this area, and plans to include information on tourism, attractions, community events, a community forum, virtual tours of the town and village, business and human services directories, and more. Photos depicting seasonal activities in the area are needed, as are "candid" shots of residents (to be used with permission). Submit photos centering on the following subjects: farming - farmers, equipment, fields, produce, animals - from any year; parades and carnivals; VFW events such as the Moving Wall or Memorial Day services; Canal Days; Christmas on the Canal; Park activities - skiing in Northampton, fishing in Pineway Ponds, games, kids on the playground equipment, model airplane or kite flying; school events; churches - photos of the buildings and activities or events; buildings - especially photos of buildings going up or coming down, significant fires, subdivisions, streets, intersections.

Drop photos off at the library, Attn.: Patty Uttaro. All photographs will be returned. Call Uttaro at 352-2141 with questions.
