New Senior Weatherization Program
offered to Orleans County seniors

"Button up for Winter" is the name given to the new weatherization program a vailable to eligible county seniors by Orleans County Office for the Aging. Information and applications are available at the Office by phoning 589-3211.

"With rising energy costs, this is an opportunity to literally button up your home against energy loss," Karen Colton, weatherization coordinator for the office stated. "We are including a wide variety of weatherization products in this special kit." Included in the package are weatherstripping products, plastic window kits, caulk, outlet seal kits, hot water tank wraps, and more.

Eligibility for the program is based on HEAP guidelines for persons age sixty or older, which are $1,554 per month for an individual and $2,032 for a couple. Also there is a resource limit of less than $1,500 for one and $3,000 for couple.

Store coupons will be issued to eligible seniors who can redeem them for weatherization products of Hahn Hardware (Ace) in Medina and Family Hardware (True Value) in Albion.
