Educational leader to speak on gifted children

Dr. Maureen Neihart, a licensed clinical child psychologist, will speak on "Promoting Optimal Adjustment in your Gifted Child: What Parents Need to Know" at Cosgrove Middle School. The evening seminar is scheduled for November 14 at 7 p.m. Neihart, who is the co-chair of the National Association for Gifted Children's task force on social-emotional issues for gifted students, will address the social and emotional issues facing gifted children.

The seminar will take place at the Spencerport School District's Cosgrove Middle School, 2749 Spencerport Road. Neihart is also leading an all-day seminar on November 15 for teachers, administrators and school psychologists and counselors at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. On November 6, another presentation will take place at Cosgrove. Dr. Dennis Boike will speak about "The Heart of Parenting and Teaching: Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child." Boike is a family therapist specializing in adolescent therapy. The parent groups at the three Spencerport elementary schools are sponsoring Boike's presentation.
