Caregivers offered support
Caregivers offered support

Support groups are one way for caregivers to find information and support for their caregiver roles, and Orleans County Office for the Aging will be starting two new support groups in November. Meetings will be held on Monday, November 5 at Community Partners, 524 N. Academy Street, Medina, and on Wednesday, November 7 at St. Mary's Social Center, 13 S. Main Street, Holley, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The facilitator will provide educational material in the form of speakers, videos, or articles. Members of the group can share strategies that they have learned to help cope with the difficulties they have encountered, and they are free to share their frustrations as well. Sometimes there are no straight forward answers, but just having caring people to turn to can be a great comfort. Confidentiality is an important aspect of participating in a support group, and members must be assured that they can speak freely and that what they share will not leave the room, according to group facilitators.
