Spencerport schedules public hearing
on district internet safety policy

The Spencerport Board of Education is holding a public hearing on the Children's Internet Protection Act: Internet Content Filtering/Safety Policy. The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on November 13, just prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting, at the Spencerport Schools' Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue.

A second hearing will also take place that night regarding Section 467 (2) of the Real Property Tax Law, which was amended to allow school districts the option of granting the real property tax exemption to low-income senior citizens who have children residing with them who attend public schools. Without the adoption of this amendment, low-income senior citizens with children residing with them who attend public schools do not qualify for the tax exemption. The school board is considering adopting this amendment, according to district officials.
