Alhart to lead conversation with Walter Cronkite
Alhart to lead conversation with Walter Cronkite

Don Alhart, Associate News Director and Anchor of WOKR, Channel 13 News, will continue in his role as emcee of the Lakeside Foundation 2001 Annual Gala Dinner planned for December 7, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. However, this year he will have a very special role.

He will take a "Voyage of a Lifetime" (the event's theme) with Walter Cronkite at this year's Gala Dinner. Because Cronkite prefers an interview format, Alhart will have the pleasure of a conversation with Walter Cronkite that will explore stories from his long history of covering the news for CBS.

Alhart, who has been honored by numerous organizations for his volunteer efforts, began his role as Lakeside's emcee when he helped welcome President Gerald Ford. Since that time he has enjoyed meeting many world leaders who have been Lakeside keynote speakers including one-on-one interviews with Secretary of State Colin Powell and the Right Honorable John Major, former Prime Minister of Great Britain.

"I have great respect for Walter Cronkite as a pioneer in television journalism," Alhart said. "I was pleased to meet him when our station received the Edward R. Morrow Award, and I look forward to seeing him again, with the opportunity to discuss his most memorable moments on and off the air."
