Maley's win secures Republican sweep in Parma

Newcomer James E. Maley, Jr. beat out incumbent Kathleen F. Mullaly, making him the new town justice and securing a perfect sweep for local Republicans in Parma. The town justice position was the only contested race.

According to unofficial results, Maley (who was endorsed by the Republicans and Conservatives) won definitively with 1,959 votes, compared to Mullaly's 815. She had the Independent endorsement.

Maley said he was excited with his first-ever election. "I was nervous being that it was the first time I had ever run a campaign," said Maley. "I know this position will be challenging, but I'm definitely up for it."

Next up for Maley will be Judicial School in November, before he is sworn in January 1.

In other races, Supervisor Rick Lemcke was voted in to his sixth term, receiving 2,385 votes. Throughout Lemcke's tenure, he has become known as a fiscal watchdog who has focused on keeping spending down and taxes low.
