Veronica Martin Stier, of Brockport, was honored this summer by receiving the National Volunteer Award (Canada). The award was given in recognition of her work for St. Christopher's Anglican church in McGregor Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Stier is also very active with the McGregor Bay Association (MBA), the governing body of cottage owners in the area. She currently is serving as President of the McGregor Bay Association (the first woman to do so in the organization's 60 year history).

Dr. and Mrs. Stier reside on Trefoil Lane, Brockport.


Navy Ensign Paul J. Witkiewitz, son of Mary J. and Kent Witkiewitz of Hilton, recently graduated from the Submarine Officer Basic Course. During the 12-week course which is taught at the Naval Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut, students learn about the theory, construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. Witkiewitz is a 1995 graduate of Hilton High School and joined the Navy in March 1999. He is a 1999 graduate of University of Rochester with a BS degree.


Navy Lt. J. G. Eric W. Hahn, son of Julia A. and Jeff W. Hahn of Spencerport, recently reported for duty with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Hahn is a 1989 graduate of E. J. Wilson High School and joined the Navy in May 1993. He is a 1994 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a BSME degree and a 2000 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with an ME degree.
