website is info source

Information about the Town of Clarkson is just a mouse click or a keystroke away.

Residents, visitors and those who enjoy surfing the Internet have been able to click on Clarkson's website since it went on line in September. Visitors to the site can find out what is going on in the town, dates of upcoming meetings, names and contact information for town officials and a detailed history of the town, Supervisor Paul Kimball said.

"The idea of a website came about as a way to better communicate with residents," he said. "More people have the technical savvy and like looking up information on the Internet."

Kimball said the site would soon offer links to various attractions in and around Clarkson. There is a listing of area churches and a page detailing upcoming events, including the town's December holiday party.

Wayland Bray of Hilton is the town's Webmaster. Kimball said Bray is responsible for designing and maintaining websites for several entities including the Village of Hilton.

The cost to get the site up and running was $1,800, Kimball said. That fee included a $1,100 set up fee and to register the domain name and a $700 yearly maintenance fee. The maintenance fee covers the cost of upgrades to the site when changes are necessary, he said.

Several individuals have visited the site, signed in at the guest book section and have made comments and suggestions. A Clarkson resident wrote that he liked the site but would like to see names of support board members, town meeting agendas and meeting minutes listed.

Gary Koslowski, of Brockport, signed the book and wrote that he found it to be very informative and said he is looking forward to seeing more information in the upcoming events section.

"I think the site is a good addition to the town," Kimball said.
