Trophy deer taken in Parma

Spencerport resident Tom Burns had a very successful opening day of hunting season. Burns, a road patrol deputy for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, said the deer was taken in Parma off Route 104 on November 19 by himself assisted by his hunting partner, Don Eichas, also of Spencerport. The deer dressed out at 185 lbs. and has 13 scoreable points and possibly 14. There is a drying period before the antlers can be officially scored. The rack is expected to score 150 points plus, making it eligible for the New York state big buck club and one of the top bucks taken in Monroe County this year. Burns said his deer had a green gross score of 166 1/8 B/C. The buck is being professionally mounted by Reithel's Taxidermy in Henrietta.
