AREA

•Cooper, Deacon Willie D., Went to the Lord on November 24, 2001 as a patient at Strong Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 44 years, Betty Cooper; one son, Gary (Mattie) Cooper of Batavia; eight daughters, Brenda Cooper-Turner, Patricia (Nathaniel) Cooper-Williams, Victoria (Jeffery) Elsenheimer, Willie May Cooper all of Albion; Pamela Cooper, Rozina "Judy" (Harris) Gilley, Paula "Gaye" (Aaron) Ferguson, Greta-Fay (Strickland) Oliver all of Tallahassee, Florida. Also surviving are three sis-ters, Dorothy Mackroy of Wintergarden, Florida; Nadine Doctor of Lockport, Josephine Grimsley of Newark, New Jersey; five brothers, Mack (Ruth) Cooper, Odell Joe (Vivian) Cooper, Thomas Cooper, and Joseph Cooper all of Damascus, Georgia, Wilbur Cooper of Newark, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Clary of Rochester, Classie Cooper of Tallahassee, Florida; two foster children, Cherry Ann Conner and Solomen Conner; 29 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of devoted and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service was held December 1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Albion. Memorial Remem-brances can be made to the Lake Plains Dialysis Center.


•Sabol, Andrew J. Jr., Monday, November 5, 2001. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn (Larson) Sabol; four children, Andrew (Robin), Sandra (Michael) Sharpe, James (Lori), Barbara (John) Gunn; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, and four brothers. Andrew was an active member of Holy Ghost Church and Choir, a member of the Churchville Legion Post #954.

A Funeral Mass was said November 8 at Holy Ghost Church. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Holy Ghost Church.


•Sadler, Joan M. (Gunter), Age 71, died November 24, 2001. Predeceased by first husband, Daniel Gunter. Survived by husband of 18 years Clifford Sadler; stepson, Gerald (Pat) Sadler; daughters, Brenda (Larry) Swanger, Cheryl Cook, Vickie (Bob) Sweet, Dannette (Fred) Hotchkiss; brothers, William (Donna) Merritt, Edwin (Donna) Merritt; sister, Shirley (John) Maw; several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held November 26 at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc., Holley. Interment in Garland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Sunset House Hospice.


BERGEN

•Eckert, Howard J., November 20, 2001 age 86. Brother-in-law of Burton (Lauretta) Gould; uncle of Donna Ehrmentraut and Kevin Finucane; husband of the late Ruth A. Eckert who died October 23, 2000 and uncle of the late Shirley Grace who died in 1980. Mr. Eckert was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post No. 468 in Greece.

Funeral Services were held November 24 at the H. E. Turner and Company Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen. Burial with Military Honors in Falls Cemetery, Greece. Memorials can be made to Bergen Fire Department, P.O. Box 428, Bergen, NY 14416.


BROCKPORT

•Barber, Cosme J., On November 24, 2001 at the age of 84. He is survived by his sons, Martin and Wayne (Colleen) Barber of New Jersey; grandson, Jacob; brothers, Anthony (Joanne), Dominic (Dee), and Peter (Betty); sisters, Theresa Petromallo and Josephine Janus; dear friend, Fern Crandel; sisters-in-law, Madeline (John) Bentley and Betty Hendershot-Doyle. Mr. Barber was a life member of Brockport's VFW Post #2890.

A Funeral Mass was said November 28 at the Church of the Nativity BVM. Interment, Lake View Cemetery.


•Garlock, Fletcher M., On Friday, November 16, 2001. Survived by his wife, Alice W.; children, Fletcher T., Samuel M., Charles A. (Elizabeth) and R. Andrew; two grandchildren; his sister, Jocelyn (Arthur) Rowley.

A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, November 21 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (corner of Main Street and State Street, Brockport). Contributions can be made to St. Luke's Church or Asheville School, Asheville, North Carolina.


•O'Dell, Jean C., On November 22, 2001 at the age of 67. She is predeceased by her husband, Roger O'Dell and mother, Helen Hoyt. Survived by her children, Michael, Timothy O'Dell and Lynn O'Dell; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Charles Ferris; sister, Thelma "Midge" Flood; beloved kitty, Peek-A-Boo; many nieces and nephews; friend Linda Wiley.

Funeral Services were held November 26 at Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Interment at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to Lakeside Memorial Hospital.


HAMLIN

•Burns, Roy E., November 20, 2001 at the age of 77. He is predeceased by his wife, Marian Burns (1/10/2000) also his brother, Arthur Burns and sister, Betty Lee. He is survived by his sons, Stanley (Janette) and Dennis (Irene) Burns; his grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Gregory, Adam (Vera) Burns and Jesse Burns; great grand-daughter, Kaitlyn Gregory; his sisters, Helen Santa, Janice LaQuay, Florence Wright and Frances Johnson; also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

A Funeral Service celebrating his life was held November 25 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Hilton. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220 in his memory.


•Patt, Edward D., November 22, 2001 at age 66. Ed is survived by his wife, Mercedes; children, Edward (Tamara), Carol Anne, Merry (Dr. Albert) Devlin, Kim (Master Sergeant Charles) Gitzen; brothers, Howard (Margaret), Ralph (Lorena); sister, Margaret Buell; grandchildren, Thomas H. Schultz, Jr., Kerri Patt, Cameron Gitzen, Kaitlin Patt; several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was said November 24 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment West Kendall Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hamlin AVA Baseball Diamond Fund or Hamlin Volunteer Ambulance.


•Taylor, Robert, 83, died suddenly at Rochester General Hospital Saturday, November 24, 2001. He was born in Warsaw, NY and resided in this area for most of his life.

Mr. Taylor was a veteran of WWII having served in the European Theatre and in Africa. He was a member of the Hamlin VFW. He enjoyed his volunteer experience as a Kendall Fireman eventually joining the Exempts. He was a retired Truck Driver and member of the Teamsters Local 118. He was predeceased by two children, Robert and Julie, and his wife, Joyce. He is survived by his children, son, Thomas (Donna) Taylor of Kendall; daughters Shirley (Peter) Harty of Virginia, Teri (Art) Taylor of Florida, Bobbi (Steve) Gentile of Greece, Margaret (Michael) O'Mara of Kendall and Jacqueline (David) Smith of Hamlin. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service was held November 27 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Memorial Re-membrances can be made to the Kendall Ambulance.


HILTON

•Gardner, Lucy M., Sunday, November 18, 2001 at age 102 in Gainesville, Florida. She was predeceased in 1969 by her husband, Louis F. Gardner. Survived by her children, Herbert (June) Gardner of Greece, Dorothy (Frederick) Coffey of Florida, Betty (Robert) Wilhelm of Hilton and Raymond (Nancy) Gardner of Brockport; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was a member of Ogden Senior Citizens Center.

A Funeral Mass was said December 1 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Spencerport. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Friends wishing may have Masses offered or contribute to the Alzheimers Association in her memory.


•Magruder, Loyd A. Jr., November 19, 2001 at age 72. Loyd is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Karen Briggs, Paul (Tracy) Magruder; brother, Edwin Magruder; grandchildren, P.J. Magruder, Corie Magruder, Melissa Briggs, Jeffrey Briggs; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held November 24 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin. Contributions can be made to the Greece Volunteer Ambulance.


Ophardt, Donald P., November 20, 2001 at the age of 43. He is survived by his wife, Marial (Porter) Ophardt; his children, Nathan, Kristen and Todd Ophardt; his father, Richard (Gail) Ophardt; his sisters and brother, Jean (Kirk) Alliman, Ruth (Dave) Muck, Margaret (Michael) O'Dell, David (Marianne) Ophardt; his godmother and aunt, Audrey Ophardt; his aunt, Arlene (Warren) Barrett; his mother-in-law, Patricia Porter; father-in-law, George (Jan) Porter; five sisters and brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Florence Rachow.

Funeral Services were held November 25 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to his Children's College Education Fund or Cornell Cooperative Extension in his memory.


HOLLEY

•Cady, Everett R., Age 79, November 24, 2001. He was a Kodak retiree and Veteran of WWII. Survived by wife of 54 years, Theresa; children, Darryl (Barb) Cady, Evan (Margaret) Cady, Janice (Lewis Jr.) Passarell, Pamela (Scott) Hamel, Lynette Cady; Lisa (Wayde) Seiler, Dean Cady; brother, Frank Cady; sister, Marcia (James) Hobbs; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held November 27 at the Holley First Presbyterian Church. Interment in Sandy Creek Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Church, Holley Ambulance or the National Kidney Foundation.


SPENCERPORT

•Webster, Sarah C., Tuesday, November 20, 2001. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Q. Drury, her husband, Earl Webster and dear friend, Gordon Crippen. She is survived by her son-in-law, Gerard F. Drury; grandchildren, Deborah J. Drury and Rick (Donna) Drury; great grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Scibona, Shawna Ball and Ricky Drury; great great granddaughter, Nicolina Diane Scibona; sister, Elsie Ziegler; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and interment will be at the conve-nience of the family.


•West, Catherine F. "Kitty" (Forrester), On November 23, 2001, at age 78. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. West, 1986. She is survived by her three sons, Terry E. (Roberta) West, Richard F. (Carol) West and Frank A. West II; five grandchildren, Julie, Catherine, Jaclyn, Deric (Amy) and Jason West; three great-grandchildren, Kelly Meath, Andrew and Kaitlyn West; her brother, James (Louise) Forrester; a special friend, Paula West. She was predeceased by her brother, George Forrester. Catherine retired from the Spencer-port School System, where she was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She and her husband Frank retired to Sun City, Arizona and she recently returned to this area. The family extends a special thanks to Fairport Baptist Home for the excellent care she received during her stay there.
