Heather Smith of Churchville was selected for inclusion in the 2000-2001 edition of "Who's Who Among American High School Students." She is currently a senior at Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


Felice A. D'Agostino III of West Kendall Road, Kendall, is scheduled to complete his baccalaureate studies in technology education in December at SUNY Oswego. A commencement ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. December 16 in Laker Hall on campus.


Lisa B. Noll is a new member of the Lakeside Foundation Board of Directors. A resident of Brockport, Noll applied to the board to contribute to the enhancement of the health services in her community.

Noll has been active in community service since college, and has participated in fundraising for over 100 children's charities with the Wilmington Flower Market in Delaware. She has also been an active volunteer with the Red Cross and the YMCA.

She has an extensive exercise and wellness background, and is currently the Active Older Adult Program Coordinator for the Northwest Rochester YMCA in Greece. Noll resides with her husband, an assistant professor at SUNY Brockport, and their four year old daughter.


Tim Page of Greece earned a Nidan in Aiki Jujutsu, Travis Cody (Gates), Katherine Kalamaroff (Chili), and Pete Nenni (Spencerport) all earned first degree Black Belts in Aiki Jujutsu. Bruce Carroll of Greece earned his third degree Black Belt in Karate. All are students at Caparco Karate and Aiki Jujutsu Dojo.


Christine Rath has been hired as a new project coordinator at The Pike Company. Rath will be working as an administrative/project engineer at the Newfane District Wide Capital Project. Her responsibilities include submittal review and processing; request for information routing and resolution; posting of contract documents; pay application review; and change order processing and control. She will also help in project construction and management team meetings, safety reports, and OSHA requirements.

Rath resides in Hamlin with her husband, Carl, and stepdaughter, Jennifer.


Navy Ensign Robert Mendez, brother of Erikka and Alexia Mendez of Lake Road, Hamlin, received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.

Mendez joined the Navy in June 2001.


Air Force Senior Airman Matthew D. Kimmel has arrived at Incirlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey, in support of Operation Northern Watch.

Operation Northern Watch, formerly termed "Operation Provide Comfort," initially was a four-nation coalition in support of Kurdish refugees who had fled from their homeland of Iraq into neighboring Turkey.

Currently, Operation Northern Watch is a combined task force comprised of United States, United Kingdom and Turkish forces and aircraft, acting as coalition partners. The coalition provides renewed and continued enforcement of the "no-fly" rule over northern Iraq. Their mission also entails monitoring Iraqi compliance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Kimmel, a desk sergeant, is the son of Susan and stepson of Michael Collins of Haskins Lane North, Hilton.

His father and stepmother, Douglas and Betty Kimmel, reside on Lakeshore Drive, Hilton.

The senior airman is a 1997 graduate of Hilton High School.
