Ecumenical Prayer Service celebrates
annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Hilton area congregations representing eight Christian denominations will come together for an Ecumenical Celebration of the Word of God on Sunday, January 20.

The service, which will be held as part of the area's observance of the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, will take place at St. Leo Church, 167 Lake Avenue in Hilton, beginning at 3 p.m. The Rev. Gary Ferner, Pastor of the Parma Greece United Church of Christ, will deliver the message. Special music will be provided by members of the St. Leo Music Ministry.

A celebration which began in 1908, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is marked each year in cities and towns across the country and around the world.

The theme and text for each year's observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity are chosen and prepared by representatives of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and representatives of the World Council of Churches. The international texts are developed, adapted and published for use in the USA by the Graymoor Ecumenical and Interreligious Institute, which invites written contributions from members of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA and other ecumenists.

This Hilton/Parma service is sponsored by St. Leo Church in union with the Hilton Parma Clergy Association.
