Pittsford-Sutherland used strong defensive play and survived several long volleys as they defeated Spencerport 30-15, 28-30, 31-29 and 30-24 January 5 in girl's volleyball.

After letting the first game get out of hand, the Rangers came back to win the second game due largely to a six-point run after the Knights got back in the game with a 12-point streak of their own to take the lead 26-23. Kristina Schweikert finished off the win with an emphatic kill.

Game three was a seesaw battle with 14 ties and six net-serves by Sutherland. Tied 29-29, the Knights won the final two points to take a 2-1 match lead. In the fourth game, Sutherland had a nine-point lead before the Rangers won four of the next five points to get within six points at 17-11 and got as close as trailing 23-22 before the Knights won seven of the final nine points to win the match 3-1.

Kristen Bourne led the Rangers with a season high 30 assists and 22 digs while Schweikert had 13 kills - also marking her season best - to go with 20 digs.

Spencerport next plays Greece Olympia January 15 and Rush-Henrietta January 17 for their final two home matches of the season.
