Andrew Meyers, son of Gregg and Renee Meyers, Churchville, was named to the dean's list for the first semester of the 2001-02 school year at Hope College, Holland, Michigan. To be named to the dean's list a student must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.


Michael Thomas Balonek of Spencerport, a music education major and the son of Mark and Audrey Balonek of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at SUNY Potsdam.


Kristie Nagy, daughter of Gary and Karen Nagy, Barkwood Lane, Spencerport, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at Keuka College in Keuka Park, New York. Nagy, a freshman, is studying accounting. A Keuka College student must have earned at least a 3.50 grade-point average for each block of at least 12 semester credit hours to be eligible for the dean's list.


Matthew Montanaro, of Quail Lane, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the first quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in the College of Science, Montanaro is studying physics. The son of Nick and Romea Montanaro, he is a 2001 graduate of Aquinas Institute.


Sarah M. Connors of Brockport was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Niagara University with a 4.0 grade point average. She is a 2001 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Batavia, and is the daughter of Robert and Patricia Connors of Brockport.

Connors is studying elementary education with a concentration in math.


Jenna Wischmeyer, daughter of Eric and Anne Marie Wischmeyer of Valley Meadow Drive, Spencerport, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.
Wischmeyer, a junior, is a nursing major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Amy Cummings, daughter of Kevin and Debra Cummings of Churchville, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Cummings, a junior, is a business management major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Kevin G. Johnson, son of Kevin and Marcy Johnson of Trefoil Lane, Brockport, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Johnson, a senior, is a double major in political science and history.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Ian Spitzer, son of John Spitzer and Tam Spitzer of Spencerport, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Spitzer, a freshman, is a physics major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


More than 10,500 Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) Branches across the nation lend a hand to others in need by organizing a fund-raising project or providing a service. Successful volunteer programs require good leadership.

Recently, AAL Branch 4304 of Spencerport elected the following leaders:
Sarah Moffitt, of Churchville, was named chair.
Donna Alspaugh, of Spencerport, was elected as coordinator.
Eleanor Graupman, of Churchville, will serve as recorder.
Nancy Goehring, of Rochester, was named treasurer.


The following area students were named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at Alfred State College: Sean Curry, Brockport; Charles Ekiert, Brockport; Brian Mastley, Hilton; Daniel Schreiner, Spencerport; Matthew Soper, Spencerport.


Four Monroe County residents have each been awarded scholarships to attend Alfred State College.

•Jeffrey Fetzner of Rochester was awarded approximately $9,000 for the "Excellence in Education Scholarship." Fetzner is slated to graduate in 2002 from Greece Athena High School and will enroll in undeclared major program.

•Joanie Walinski of Rochester was awarded approximately $2,000 for the "All-American Scholarship." Walinski is slated to graduate in 2002 from Greece Athena High School and will enroll in the culinary arts-baking, production and management program.

•Todd Ford of Brockport was awarded a $500 "Alumni Scholarship." Ford is slated to graduate in 2002 from Brockport High School and will enroll in the mechanical engineering technology program.

•Justin Hausner of Hilton was awarded a $500 "Alumni Scholarship." Hausner is slated to graduate in 2002 from Aquinas Institute and will enroll in the architectural engineering technology program.


Area students named to the president's list at SUNY Potsdam for the fall 2001 semester include: Andrea Lynn Ferris, a childhood education major, daughter of Ramon and Maureen Ferris of Rochester; Michelle Anne Keenan, of Spencerport, a music education major; Jennifer Kathleen Woodworth, a chemistry major and daughter of Donald and Beth Woodworth of Bergen.


Army 2nd Lt. Lawrence P. Guszkowski IV has arrived for duty at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri.

Guszkowski is a civil-military operations officer assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion.

He is the son of Lawrence and Juana Guszkowski of Brewerton Drive, Rochester.

The lieutenant graduated in 1997 from Churchville-Chili High School, Churchville, and received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont.


Cadet Loraleigh Roller, daughter of Ann and Brian Roller and a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School, has been named to the dean's list at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut for the fall semester of the 2001-2002 academic school year.

Roller is a junior at the Academy and majoring in computer and business management.
