Hilton's Natural Helpers

Twenty Natural
Helpers named at
Hilton High School

Park Ridge Youth Outreach Counselor Nancy Lewthwaite, along with advisors, Hilton faculty members Shirley Abrams, David Heise, Lori Martello and Brad Helmer, accompanied 20 students to the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush for the annual retreat training last fall.

Hilton High School's Natural Helpers for 2001-02 are: Cassandra Briggs; Caitlin Brown; Saran Bryan; Sarah Cocchiara; Kristen Coon; Sarah Crawford; Bianca D'Angelo; Dan DeHollander; Diana Duarte; LaToya Dunbar; Lonntay Dunbar; Jaime Fertitta; Ryanne Fose; Ashley Foster; Jackie Meyers; Brian Mowers; Rebecca Pawl; Craig Rapp; Nicole Ritchie; Sally Schultz.

Natural Helpers are students selected by their peers in a schoolwide survey for their 'natural' helping abilities and concern for their friends, according to Ms. Lewthwaite. The retreat helped further strengthen their helping skills; taught them where to go for help; and how to take good care of themselves. Throughout the school year Natural Helpers can participate in further training opportunities as well as become involved in service projects.

This year's group represents the fifth year Hilton High School students have trained to be Natural Helpers.
