fire districts to consolidate

Removing a layer of government is the idea behind the proposed consolidation of the fire districts of Ogden-Parma and the Village of Spencerport.

Village of Spencerport Trustee Glenn Granger said there will be no effect on the fire service in any of the communities served by the fire department. "The village board and the Ogden-Parma fire district agreed to create a new district," he said.

In order to create the district, Granger said the two entities are seeking a fire commissioner to oversee the operation. The position would be a provisional appointment with the individual having to seek election to retain the commissioner position.
