Harvey C. Noone Post presents Blue Star Banners

At their regular meeting of January 24, the Harvey C. Noone Post 954, Past Commanders and Auxiliary Unit honored five local families who have sons or daughters serving in the military.

The families were invited to attend the meeting and were presented with a Blue Star Banner to display in a window of their home signifying that a family member is serving in the war on terrorism. The recipients were: the Lawrence Williams family of Palmer Road, son Scott serving in Okinawa; the Mark Kristansen family of Palmer Road, son Erik currently stationed in Iceland; the family of Donna Hare of Riga Center Road, whose son will ship to Afghanistan in February; the Beeke family of Reddick Lane (Post member), son Colin Matt Wolke flying AWACS at Norfolk, Virginia; the family of Mark Trostle of Washington Street, whose daughter Jennifer is on active duty with the Army National Guard (unable to attend meeting).

Noone Post 954 participates in the Blue Star Banner program initiated during World War I and continued during every conflict since then to honor and recognize the sacrifices neighbors are making to preserve the Republic. In addition to providing the banners, Noone Post and its Auxiliary Unit advised that they are on stand by to assist the family or service person in the event of need.
