Kendall to offer continuing education course in ceramics

Kendall Central School District's Continuing Education Program will be offering a course in ceramics beginning Tuesday, March 12. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. until April 25.

Ceramics offers a preliminary approach to working with clay. Students are introduced to fundamental methods of making, decorating and firing stoneware pieces. The course centers on the exploration of pottery form with an emphasis on wheel throwing and certain handwork techniques, such as coiling, pinching and slab constructions.

For students who have studied ceramics in the past, this course offers an opportunity to refine their skills and attempt more sophisticated techniques, such as marbling and creating composite pots.

The cost of the course is $50, with an additional glaze and clay fee of $10 to be paid on the first day of class. For information or to sign up, call Melissa Ostrom at 659-2706.
