Emily Ugino, daughter of Richard and Joan Ugino of Hilton, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2001 semester at Saint Michael's College. Ugino is a senior political science major.

Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester, are recognized for their leadership by inclusion on the dean's list.


Carla Longobardi, of Ryan's Run, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in the College of Applied Science and Technology, she is studying hotel/resort management.

The daughter of Carmen and Maureen Longobardi of Rochester, she is a 2001 graduate of Spencerport High School.


Local residents have been named to the dean's list at Canisius College for the fall 2001 semester.

•Nicole Keehley, of Ronald Circle, Spencerport, awarded Academic Merit, is a senior psychology, criminal justice major.
•Daniel Surdyk, of Spencerport, is a sophomore bioinformatics major.


A Monroe County resident has been awarded approximately $2,000 for the "All-American Scholarship" to attend Alfred State College.

Steve Norselli of Rochester is slated to graduate in 2002 from Hilton Central High School and will enroll in the information technology-network administration program.

The "All-American Scholarship" (free board) is awarded to students who possess an 88 or better high school average through their junior year and who have achieved at least a 1100 combined SAT score or a composite ACT score of 24. Recipients must maintain a required GPA (grade point average) to continue to receive free board in subsequent semesters.


Amy B. Greenwell of Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at Niagara University.


The following students from the area were named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at Bentley College, Waltham, Massachusetts.

•Courtney Bowers, Rochester, a freshman, undecided liberal arts major.
•Stephanie Weilert, Rochester, a freshman, marketing major.

To be named to the dean's list, a full-time student must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher with no course grade below 2.0 during the term.


Jacquelyn B. Butler of Peachey Road, Bergen, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at Daemen College, Amherst, NY.

The early and special education major is a member of the class of 2004.


Shannon Stoll, a member of the Class of 2002 at Wells College in Aurora, NY, completed an internship during the January 2002 intersession. She served as an intern at Marion School District #7 in Gresham, South Carolina. Stoll is the daughter of Sarah and David Stoll of Hilton.


Kelly Stevens, a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, received dean's list honors at SUNY Oneonta for the fall 2001 semester. She earned a 3.8 GPA and is majoring in meteorology.


Senior Darren Fazio has been appointed operations manager at the SUNY Brockport radio station, 89.1 The Point.

A 1998 graduate of Spencerport High School and son of Carol and Don Fazio of Spencerport, Fazio is majoring in broadcast communications, minoring in theatre and hoping one day to call play-by-play for the Buffalo Sabres. He joined the station because, "I love sports and music, and want to get paid to call hockey."


Senior Daniel Anderson is one of eighteen Economic students who elected to be a part of this year's Junior Achievement program at Byron-Bergen. He is one of just fifteen students from Western New York who attended a Dale Carnegie Youth Course. The Dale Carnegie Course is designed to help students recognize their potential to achieve goals, develop more confidence, express ideas more easily and effectively, develop a more dependable memory, motivate oneself and others, and meet the challenges of life in a more positive way.

Dan was eligible to apply for this and other scholarships because of his participation in the local Junior Achievement program.


For the 12th consecutive year, Tom Zubert, of RE/MAX First, received the prestigious Sales Master Award at the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors Luncheon and Award Ceremony held last November at The Holidome in Henrietta.

This award places him in the top five percent of the GRAR sales force. Tom has helped over 1,350 families achieve their dream of home ownership since 1975.

A Gates resident, he was the association's president for 1995 and holds many coveted Real Estate Professional designations. He joined RE/MAX in 1990 and is a recipient of the 100 percent Club Award from RE/MAX of New York and is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame.


Dorothy Swingle and Daniel Pandina are the co-top producers at Braeview Realty for 2001.

Dorothy, an associate broker, has been with the company for 23 1/2 years. She is a commissioner with Hilton Parma Recreation, a Hilton Lioness, and a real estate investor. She has levied in the Hilton-Parma area for 40 years and is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo. Her late husband, Walter Swingle (retired from RG&E) was a Hilton Lion, a member of the American Legion, VFW, Hilton School Board and coached girls soccer.

Dan Pandina is in his second year with Braeview Realty. He is a lifetime resident of Greece and graduated from Greece Athena in 1994. He qualified for his Broker's License in 2001 and will take his exam in March.

When asked what he attributes his success to, Dan says, "I surround myself with successful people so that I can learn from them. The people at Braeview Realty have so much knowledge, and they are all eager to share it. Our company has been around for 36 years, and that is no accident. Air Force Airman Jason R. Blanchard has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Debbie and John Blanchard of Holley. Blanchard is a 2001 graduate of Holley High School.


Army Pfc. Christopher D. Williams has graduated from the AH-64 attack helicopter repairer course at Fort Eustis, Newport News, Virginia. Williams is the son of Claudia J. Smith of Kendall Road, Kendall and Gary A. Williams of Peter Smith Road, Kent. He is a 2000 graduate of Kendall Junior-Senior High School.


Army Spec. James D. Rowley has graduated from the chaplain assistant advanced individual training course at the Chaplain School, Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

Religious support classes taught students to prepare altars for Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Orthodox worship services; and stressed the importance of being knowledgeable of all faith groups represented in the Army. He earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course.

Rowley is the son of John T. and stepson of Donna S. Rowley of West Albion Street, Holley.
