AREA

•Schimp, Bernice M., 87, February 8, 2002 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

Formerly of Holley, Mrs. Schimp was a production worker at the former General Electric Plant in Brockport. She also worked at the Owens-Illinois plant in Brockport. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church in Holley.

Her husband, Frederick B. Schimp and a grandson, Nicholas S. DiNunzio, predeceased Mrs. Schimp. She is survived by her children, Frederick N. Schimp of Pennsylvania, Michael J. Schimp of Florida; Mary L. (Nick) DiNunzio of New Jersey, Judith A. Schimp of Rochester, Margaret R. (Michael) Reding of Batavia and Vicki L. (Douglas) Susol of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Merle (Lillian) Etzel of East Aurora and Leland (Lucy) Etzel of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Helen (Merritt) Wingard and Ruth Shreffer both of Pennsylvania and Janie (Leonard) Sharrer of New Mexico; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 11 at St. Mary's Church, Holley. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the LeRoy Village Green Sunshine Club or Hospice in her memory.


•Dick, Stewart C., 99, of Winter Haven, Florida, died Friday, December 28, 2001 at Tandem Health Care in Winter Haven.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Eleanora M. Dick of Winter Haven; one daughter, Dr. Sara J. (Fred) Boskovich, of Burr Ridge, Illinois; one sister, Margaret Goodridge of Geneseo; one grandchild, Daniel LaPrairie, of Burr Ridge, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Ridge, New York August 22, 1902 and moved to Lake Wales, Florida from Churchville in 1978. He then moved to Spring Haven in Winter Haven in 1991.

He was a Railroad Maintainer on New York Central Railroad until an accident in 1943, after which he joined the G.R.S. in Rochester until he retired in 1968.

He was a life-long member of the Churchville Union Congregational Church, and an Exempt Fireman until 1943. He was also a member of Churchville Masonic Lodge for 25 years and a member of Masonic Lodge 186 in Winter Haven. In 1996 he received an award for 70 years of service from the Masonic organizations.

Donations can be made to the Churchville Union Congregational Church in his memory.


ALBION

•Gurzinski, Arthur, 77, went peacefully on February 10, 2002. Mr. Gurzinski was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and Saint Mary's Athletic Club. He was a graduate of Albion High School class of 1941 and attended the University of Florida for three years. He retired from Sylvania in Brockport where he worked as a quality controller.

His wife Marion predeceased Mr. Gurzinski in 1994. He is survived by his mother-in-law Lottie Ciesielski of Albion; a sister-in-law Jean Ducharme of Albion; brother-in-law Francis (Connie) Ciesielski of Maryland; nephew Michael (Tracy) Ducharme of California.

Funeral Service were held February 15 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home. Interment at Mount Albion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.


BERGEN

•Ash, Louisa "Rochelle," February 9, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband "Red" in 1998.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie (John) Bonin; son, Daniel (Ann) Ash; grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas and Benjamin Bonin, Rachel and Joshua Ash; sisters, Myrna (Paul) List and Martha (John) Bielski; brothers Donald (Virginia) Mason and John (Sandra) Mason; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held February 14 at the North Bergen Presbyterian Church. Interment at the convenience of the family.

•Cline, Constance R., February 5, 2002. Age 76. Member of Angelica Chapter O.E.S. and former secretary of Senior Citizens of Riga. Mother of David (Lucille), Vincent of Webster, Douglas (Dawn) Vincent of Nashville and Lynne (Douglas) Troke of Bergen; sister of Dennison (Shirley) Ripley of Honeoye Falls; grandmother of seven children, including the late Tamra A. Troke and Melissa R. Vincent.

Services were held February 9 at Bergen First Presbyterian Church. Memorials can be made to Bergen Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 428, Bergen 14416 in her memory.


•Gilt, Carl R. Jr., suddenly on February 5, 2002 at 35. He is survived by his wife, Michele Richardson Gilt; his son, Carter William Gilt; his parents, Gregory and Mary Lou Taylor of Bergen and Deanna and David Zonis of Florida, and Carl and Judy Gilt Sr. of Florida; in-laws, William and Gladys Richardson of Hilton; his brothers, Curtis (Terri) Taylor of Bergen, Mark (Cathy) Gilt of Florida; his sisters, Sandra (Rusty) Norton of Florida, Melissa (Eric) Toal of Bergen, Karen (Jerry) Belcher of Indiana; his grandparent, Dorothy Priestley of Virginia; also eight nephews, three nieces; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

•Peffer, Dorothy D. (Downey), 81, Friday, January 18, 2002. Predeceased by her husband Francis and son, Thomas. Survived by her children, Fred (Sadako) of Florida, Bernard of Rochester, Rosemary Martin of Gates, Denise Wood of Brockport; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Rachael Fictum, Deanna Schefler, Kara St. Clair, Suszann and Kevin Peffer; three great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Cleveland; brother-in-law, Donald Peffer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held February 16 at the Church of the Nativity, BVM, Brockport. Memorials can be made to Church of the Nativity BVM in her memory.

•Bopp, Ella V. "Ginny," February 9 at age 82. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Robert) Lauber, William Bopp, Sr.; grandchildren, Charles Lauber, Andrew (Shannon) Lauber, David Lauber, Rachele Lauber, Billy (Kathy) Bopp Jr., Tim (Donna) Bopp, Robbie (Debbie Ferranti) Bopp, Tom (Valarie) Bopp, Tammy (Scott) French; 21 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews and Catherine Bopp.

•Persia, Ronald T., 63, February 8, 2002. He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Susan) Persia of Clarendon; four nieces, Meredith (Eric) Kuellertz, Anne Marie Persia, Melissa Persia and Angela Persia; one great-niece, Kristina Kuellertz; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

•Stymus Helen J., 80, February 11, 2002 at the Medina Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Unit. Born in Brockport, she resided in the area her entire life.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Graydon Stymus, and their children, Duane (Julie) Stymus of Holley, Marilee (Fred) Press of Hamburg, Patricia (Arnold) Nichols of Florida, Kathy (James) Cronin of Rochester, Leslie (Dennis) Piedmonte of Holley and Carol Webster of Brockport; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held February 14 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home. Contributions can be made to the Medina Memorial Hospital Rehab Unit in her memory.


•Winkler, Alfred M., 89, on February 10, 2002.

He is survived by his loving wife Madeline and sons Kevin (Sharon), Dale, Jeffrey (Regina), Larry and Roger; three grandchildren, Renee (Joe) Frongetta, Genevieve and William Winkler; and two great grandchildren, Nikkia and Alyshea Frongetta.

Mr. Winkler served with distinction in WWII as a sergeant under General George Patton. Following an honorable discharge, he had a 31 year career in the chemical distilling department at Eastman Kodak.

He was an avid gardener who supplied neighbors with vegetables and local churches with gladiolus.

Funeral Services were held privately. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society in his memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Brewer, Wilma Priestley, January 27, 2002 in California, formerly of Rochester. Predeceased by husbands Rev. Albert M. McCartney and Everett Brewer. Survived by daughters Bonnie McCartney of Rocklin, California; Dr. Margie McCartney-Silver of Puyallup, Washington; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister Marjorie P. Whitehead, Spencerport. She was a reading teacher in the Churchville School district for several years, taught piano, organ and keyboard, was an avid dancer and also taught grammar school in Greece. She was a graduate of Brockport State University and member of Greece Baptist Church.

Interment Garland Cemetery in the spring. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.


•Sickelco, Carolyn H. (Halbleib), February 6, 2002 at age 81. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert J. Sickelco; her children, Susan (Fred Kaiser) Sickelco, Carolyn Hayes, James (Karen) Sickelco, Nancy (Tom) Piwinski, Elizabeth Sickelco; grandchildren, Andrew and Kristen Hayes, Jeffrey and Robert Sickelco, Gretchen and Laura Piwinski; two sisters, Doris Ball of Florida, Marjory O'Connor of Rochester; two sisters-in-law, Hannah Halbleib of South Carolina and Virginia Halbleib of Rochester; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Karl, William and Andrew Halbleib.

Funeral Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends are asked to say a prayer for Carolyn or to contribute to a charity of your choice in her memory.


•Sielaff, Helen Anna, February 6, 2002. She was predeceased by her brother, Karl Sielaff and sister Mildred Thompson. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary E. Sielaff; nephews Arthur (Charlene) Sielaff, Robert (Audrey) Sielaff, Karl D. (Gail) Sielaff; nieces Maryann (Michael) Goschka and Nancy (Peter) Barry; several great nieces and nephews; and her very dear friend, Lavena Corbett. She was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.
