Police make arrest
in bank robbery

Gary A. Masters, 35, of Villager Apartments, Brockport was arrested February 16 following a robbery at Chase Bank in Brockport on February 15, according to Brockport Police.

Masters allegedly handed bank tellers a note stating he was armed and wanted the teller to give him cash, according to police reports. Brockport Police said Masters was unarmed.

State police canine units were called in to assist Brockport Police and SUNY College Police in the efforts to track Masters.

Police Chief Daniel Varrenti said an undisclosed amount of cash was recovered during the chase, along with a jacket allegedly belonging to Masters.

Masters was arrested by Rochester police following his alleged attempt to break into a home. According to police reports, Masters gave a voluntary confession to robbing Chase Bank in Brockport.

He was charged with third degree robbery and second degree larcency, both felonies, Varrenti said. He is being held in Monroe County Jail with no bail.
