Holley Industrial Park may get new tenant

Holley’s Industrial Park may become home to Precision Packaging Products, Inc. of Greece, a firm that uses plastic from recycled pop bottles to manufacture packaging for both food and non-food retail products.

Kerry Kyle, president, said there are a couple of things that still need to be closed down and negotiated before the decision is final. The company and the Orleans County Industrial Development agency are working out incentive packages for the move.

"Holley would offer us a new base for growth," Kyle said.

The company needs a $300,000 state loan, IDA Executive Driector Donald Kennedy said, in order to help finalize the deal. At a recent Holley Village Board meeting, officials authorized the IDA to seek a $450,000 Small Cities Economic Development Grant for the project. The IDA will seek $300,000 for Precision and $150,000 to create a new electric utility substation in the industrial park.

If the funding can be secured, Kennedy said, they expect Precision to begin construction in the summer. Precision Packaging’s lease at its current location in Greece will be expiring soon, Kyle said. "We will be looking to close the Greece operation and hopefully relocate to Orleans County in the early part of 2003," he said.

Kennedy said it would be nice to have Precision as a new tenant as they would give a visible presence to the Industrial Park. If the move is made, Precision would construct their factory at 31 Maziarz Drive, within the park.

"We’ve been working with them for a while and one of the draws for them to come to Holley is the low cost electric," Kennedy said.

"This project offers opportunity for expansion of employment within the county," Kennedy said.

Precision has 40 employees and Kyle said they would be seeking to add more employees but wouldn’t comment on the number of jobs that might be created by the move.
