Rebecca Ann Strussenberg of Walker Lake Ontario Road, Hilton, is a fall 2001 graduate at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi, receiving an A.A.S. in veterinary science technology.


Carrie Lynn Easton of Chili Avenue Extension, Churchville, has been cited for academic achievement for the fall 2001 semester at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi.

Easton, a veterinary science technology major, has qualified for the honors list. To qualify for the honors list, a student must have an academic average between 3.50 and 3.74.


Nathaniel Emmerson was named to the Denison University dean's list. He is the son of Debbie and Bruce Emmerson of Brockport. Emmerson, a 2001 graduate of Brockport High School, is a freshman majoring in philosophy.


Michael R. Blair of North Chili, was named to the dean's list for the 2001 academic year.

Blair is a sophomore at Fordham University.


The following students were named to the dean's list for their outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2001 semester at Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University: Megan E. Kincaid of Spencerport and Marie E. Lloyd, also of Spencerport.


Tiffany Kwiatkowski, daughter of Mark and Bette Kwiatkowski, Emerald Point, Chili, has been named to the fall 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Kwiatkowski, a sophomore, is a psychology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


William Calnon, D.D.S., of Rochester, has been elected president-elect of the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA), a constituent of the American Dental Association representing more than 13,000 of the state's dentists. Dr. Calnon will serve as president of NYSDA in 2003.

Dr. Calnon, a Spencerport resident, is a former chair of the NYSDA Council on Public and Professional Relations and continues to serve as a spokesperson for the organization. He is active in the Seventh District Dental Society, a component of NYSDA based in Rochester that encompasses Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. He is a former member of the New York State Board for Dentistry.

He practices general dentistry in Rochester.


Kelly Lynn Bliemeister, a senior at Brockport High School, was accepted into the National Festival Orchestra in October 2001. She was among three Rochester area students chosen from 70 high school and college musicians throughout the United States.

The orchestra met January 17 in New York City to practice with Maestro Lukas Foss, a well recognized conductor. On January 20, Bliemeister was the only female bass player among eight who played on stage at Carnegie Hall. They performed Dvorak's "Symphony No. 9 in E Minor" (from the New World).


Army Reserve Pfc. Adam S. Alliet has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri.

Alliet is the son of Diane Palmer of Bailey Road, Hilton, and a 2000 graduate of Hilton High School.


Army Reserve Pvt. James W. DeBottis graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri.

DeBottis is the son of Jamie and Sharon DeBottis of Swamp Road, Bergen.

His grandparents, William and Gail Craig, reside on Attridge Road, Churchville.

He is a 2001 graduate of Byron-Bergen Central School, Bergen.


Army National Guard Pvt. Eric Pszyk graduated from military police advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri. He served a short assignment in Germany. Upon returning home, he will serve with the Army National Guard Military Police Unit stationed in Rochester.

Pszyk's parents are Gregory and Sandra Pszyk of Norway Road, Kendall.


PFC Thomas List graduated from Parris Island Marine Corps Boot Camp on February 1.

He is the son of Debi and Mark List of Bergen. His grandparents are Paul and Myrna List of Bergen and Al and Mary Antonio of Greece.

List is attending Aviation Mechanic School in Florida.


Air Force Airman Jennifer N. Nelson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations.

Nelson is the daughter of Douglas Nelson of Mississippi and Helen Burmeister of Holley.

She is a 2001 graduate of St. Martin High School, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.


Army Spec. Jason C. Rice attended and participated in the Korean-American Friendship Association (KAFA) Thanksgiving and Year-End Party. The KAFA is an organization whose sole purpose is to promote friendship between the peoples of South Korea and those of the United States.

Rice is assigned to Bravo Company, 302nd Forward Support Battalion at Camp Casey, Tongduchon-Up, South Korea.

He is the son of Kathy D. and Jim E. Rice of Redman Road, Brockport.

The specialist is a 1998 graduate of Brockport High School.


Travis D. Carpenter, son of Skip and Cindy Carpenter of Holley, was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy on October 26, 2001. He is a 1997 graduate of Holley Central School and a May 2001 graduate of SUNY Brockport with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.

Ensign Carpenter was accepted to officer Candidate School, Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, Florida, a thirteen week program designed by Naval officers and educators to give an individual a basic working knowledge of the high-tech Naval establishment afloat and ashore, to prepare that individual to assume the responsibilities of a Naval officer.

He is currently stationed as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the USS Paul Hamilton, a guided missile destroyer, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Ensign Carpenter will also attend a 23 week Surface Warfare School in Newport, Rhode Island beginning January 2002 and will then return to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
