23 Hilton High School students

Hilton High School students who took Advanced Placement examinations last spring were honored for their levels of achievement by the College Board which administers the AP examination program nationwide.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and grades of three or higher on five or more of the exams: Caitlin Bower; Kim Cipura; Darren Lipomi; Elaine Loggi; and Anne Marino, all members of the Class of 2001.

Two students qualified for AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and grades of three or higher on four or more of these exams: Jessica Erwin and Gareth Schuth.

Sixteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with grades of three or higher: John Ayers; Jason Begy; Andy Butler; Ryan Church; Jeffrey Colburn; Angela D'Orazio; Nicholas Earnhart; Lindsay Herko; Lindsey Ingraham; Mary Koegel; Gregory Mahns; Lee McOmber; Amanda Poole; Joshua Rapke; Heidi Schultz; Jeremy Wilson. Of the award recipients, four were sophomores or juniors when they took the exams: John Ayers; Andy Butler; Angela D'Orazio; Nicholas Earnhart.

Most of the nation's colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement, or both based on successful performance on AP exams.
