Byron-Bergen girl's basketball head coach Tom Sherwood was named Class CCC Coach of the Year at a Section Five Luncheon held February 14 at the Four Points Sheraton in Rochester.

"We've come a long way in the four years I've been here going 5-16 my first year, 11-11, then 15-5 last season and 16-4 this year," said Sherwood after the announcement which followed the sectional seeding announcements. "We play a tough schedule with some tough opponents to remain competitive, so I'm looking forward to the Section Five tournament."

Area coaches and officials vote on the award. It is the first of Sherwood's career. "Since it's voted on by people I respect among my fellow coaches and officials, it is quite an honor. We're a soccer school, but I need to get back because the school is so pumped up about our team that they're having a rally for us."

The Bees began their sectional playoff against Letchworth February 20.
