GardenScape Gardens "Bursting With Color"

With a focus on color and serenity, the 22 gardens at this year's GardenScape promises to provide the perfect escape for anyone longing to get away from it all, even for just a few hours, March 14-17 at the Dome Center. From peaceful sitting gardens and Koi ponds to European gardens and cascading waterfalls, every garden at GardenScape 2002 has been carefully designed with two things in mind - color and relaxation.

From the moment visitors enter the show, they will immediately be greeted with the fragrant scents and vibrant beauty of hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils, more than 10,000 in all, which will provide a sea of color for this spectacular flower show. "Bursting With Color," the theme for GardenScape 2002, will be evident everywhere throughout the show from the lobby to the more than 70 exhibitors and gardens on display.

A patriotic theme of red, white and blue will be showcased in the R.M. Landscape Industries of Hilton garden display. Partnering with The Garden Factory, the theme for this garden is "Colorful Pride," and will incorporate the use of annuals and numerous flowering shrubs and trees to add some visual excitement to this dramatic theme. To complement the plants, a large concrete paver patio and a raised planting bed, both features commonly found in residential landscapes, will be constructed.

The JNA Landscape and Aquatic Design garden creates the whimsical paradise called "Ferngully." Highlighted by a cascading stream and waterfall, there's a small pond where fish, frogs, fireflies, and even fairies call home, "Ferngully" changes from an animated children's classic, to a real life fantasy. This tropical, fern filled grass and rock garden invites you into its land of make believe where even Mother Nature herself would be proud.

And if it's nature that you love, the Ted Collins & Associates garden will transport you back to an era gone by with their "Pioneer Spirit" garden. Nestled amongst pine and birch woods, sets a rustic log cabin surrounded by wild flowers and native shrubs, all bursting with the color of springtime. A trickling stream nearby provides the perfect natural element for this rustic hideaway.

GardenScape 2002 is presented by The Genesee-Finger Lakes Nursery and Landscape Association, a not-for-profit organization whose proceeds from GardenScape help benefit the association's many educational and public service efforts.
